Dr. Nagamani Srinath

Recipient of the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, conferred by the Government of India; Member of the Executive Board - Central Sangeet Natak Akademi; and recipient of the Ganayogi Panchakshari Gawai National Award, the Government of Karnataka's highest honour in music. Distinguished Carnatic classical musician (vocal), composer, author, educator, philanthropist, and cultural leader whose contributions have significantly enriched India's performing arts and cultural heritage.

Dr. Nagamani Srinath's contributions to Carnatic music extend beyond the concert platform into the fields of research, authorship, and documentation. Through scholarly publications, doctoral research, lecture-demonstrations, and thematic productions, she has devoted decades to preserving, interpreting, and disseminating India's rich musical heritage for students, researchers, and future generations.

Scholarly Research

Her doctoral research reflects an enduring commitment to documenting the historical and pedagogical traditions of Carnatic music.
 

Her doctoral thesis, Legacy of Sri Tyagaraja through His Disciples, presents a comprehensive study of the life, musical lineage, and contributions of more than 150 composers belonging to the Tyagaraja shishya parampara. The work stands as an important contribution to the study of one of Carnatic music's most influential traditions.

Dr. Nagamani Srinath served as the director and producer of the acclaimed thirteen-episode television series Mysore Composers, telecast on Doordarshan's national network. The series documents the lives, compositions, and musical legacy of the distinguished composers of the Mysore tradition, furthering public awareness of Karnataka's rich musical heritage.
